Richard Pohl - Jesenik, Czech Republic
l. Why you decided take part in this Courses? Did you take part in another
courses sometimes and which one?
I've been participating in this course since it was founded. I see it deeply and positively affected my artistic development so I have decided to come again. I used to take part in courses in Mikulov (Czech Republic) and attended masterclasses at the workshops given by internationally acclaimed experts at our Academy (Grigory Kanev, Sontraud Speidel, Thomas Steinhofel, Iva Navratova, Petr Sefl). This year I was awarded a scholarship at the International Prag-Wien-Budapest Festival.
2. Did you visit Czech republic sometimes?
I am from the Czech republic, so I really don't feel as a stranger.
3. What do you know about our teachers?
I know Mr. Kubalek and Mr. Hnat very well from the previous courses. Actually, Mr. Hnat has been teaching me since I entered Janacek Academy of Music and Performing Arts two years ago. I know Mr. Kahanek only by repute as a great pianist, but also a talented pedagogue, and last but not least – the winner of Prague Spring Competition. I am looking forward to meeting him and learning from him.
4. What do you think about learning English in our Courses?
I guess, without English it will be soon impossible to make any career, not only international. It's also a basic means of any international communication, and due to my progress in English I could read many interesting articles and books about music and piano playing, which were mostly unavailable in Czech translation. Mrs. Kubalkova is an excellent teacher who helped me a lot - I am sure this year I will advance even more under her tutorage.
5.And last question - Dou you have any guestion for our teachers?
For Mr. Kubalek and Mr. Hnat: It's amazing, that you are still so full of energy and high-spirited. Is it music that helps you keep your mind on its level?
For Mr. Kahanek: This summer you are going to teach at the piano courses for the first time. Are you looking forward to that event and what are your expectations?

Thank you for your question. I am looking forward to the courses very much. For one thing, I really enjoy learning at this level and what’s more it helps me develop my personality and performance skills. For another, apart from two older colleagues I am also going to meet talented and nice people of almost the same age with whom there will surely be much to talk about.
