HUDEBNI ROZHLEDY
September 2007
A man seemingly comes to certain places by chance, but only later do they discover that it was
the only time and
the only place they could come to. (A quotation from a book by Kamil Bednar
“Zahrada pritelkyne” that was so impressively presented by Radovan Lukavsky on Saturday). The place was the pilgrimage site of Virgin Mary the Helper by Zlaté Hory
(
www.mariahilf.cz), and the time was Saturday, 14 July 2007. On that day, the lovers of classical music and people of good will met to show they were not indifferent to the heritage of our ancestors. They gathered in spite of the fact that the fifth year of Antonin Kubalek Piano Courses www.kubalekpianocourses.com had been cancelled (the charity evenings used to be part of the event for four years). By attending the concert, they, along with Radovan Lukavsky and K. M. Nosticz quartet, wanted to push the reconstruction and restoration of the national cultural monument of St. John the Baptist in Horni
Udoli near Zlate Hory a small step forward. The young quartet, which has already successfully performed abroad and has produced several remarkable recordings, presented works by F. Schubert, L. v. Beethoven and W. A. Mozart. Besides professionally perfected performance and precise harmony, the quartet impressed the listeners by its liveliness and drive as well as by understanding the differences of musical worlds of these Viennese masters. Radovan Lukavsky, with s refinement and typical self-confidence, recited in masterly manner an excerpt from unjustly neglected work of an outstanding poet Kamil Bednar. Zahrada pritelkyne (the last and not finished Bednar’s book) has opened to the sights of the people present thanks to the reciting art of the ever-young artist. If only there were more people able to clarify even a difficult symbolic text to those willing to listen. The master received warm applause for the unforgettable performance. Father Stanislav Lekavy had a nice wish at the end of the concert. “I would be delighted if any of the artists, who have been giving their performances at this place for five years in order to do their bit, has the opening concert at this church”. We hope that this year’s performers along with Antonin Kubalek, Zdenek Hnat or Kocian quartet will return at the time to the place.
The organizers – JartAgency and the Pilgrimage site of Virgin Mary the Helper by Zlate Hory – would like to thank Ing. Cyril Svozil who took the patronage of the concert,
