The above-mentioned church is in bad technical condition. After the WWII the original German inhabitants were forced out and the ties lasting for hundreds of years were severed. New inhabitants took root only slowly. As many of them were of Greek nationality, and thus of different religion, the church was seldom used.
In consequence of harsh climatic conditions and failure to carry out any maintenance at all this beautiful building decayed. Due to a leaking roof the internal plaster was destroyed and precious furniture was badly damaged. In 1992, sculptures and paintings were taken to Zlate Hory and the church was abandoned and left to its fate.
In 2002, it was given in charge of the rectorate of the pilgrimage site of the Virgin Mary the Helper and first steps were taken to preserve it and restore completely. In the same year the church was designated a cultural monument and all the work has been carried out under the supervision of the State Heritage Institute in Olomouc.
